I just participated in a conversation the other day about this sort of thing, and ended up stumbling upon this video.

I may end up making another thread soon on natural glue options like hide glue, resin, etc. but for now, for something more frugal where gluing really isn't necessary:

Very nice! Simple and effective technique. You just want all the mortised parts of a piece of furniture steamed at once and the tenoned pieces ready to go into the right places.
