Hey yall! New boot from New Orleans here! Had enough of the city life. Most of the world is trying to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible while in New Orleans they measure the success of a Mardi Gras by the tonnage of garbage they have to plow out of the streets after all the parades are done. I’ve been here a week with my wife Tracy, but we’ve been so busy that this is my first chance to make a post.

We love this place! Paul and the gang have been extremely welcoming and helpful to us. We’ve already learned so much and are excited to learn much more. The things I’m most interested in are designing and building sustainable systems, cob building, rocket mass heaters, and Hugelkulture beds.

Today I was on Seth’s team with Lorenzo. In the morning we helped define the Hugelkulture bed trails by making them wider and removing some of the overgrowth. In the afternoon we focused on fire wood harvesting for Allerton Abbey. We had originally intended to improve the wings in the back of the Abbey, but after a quick inspection realized we needed different tools.

Everyday is a new adventure and I’m looking forward to sharing them with all of you on permies!

Choppin’ n Droppin on Arrakis and Raspberry Hill this morning. Limbed and stripped a tree to use on the Allerton Abbey wofati wing wall repair this afternoon. Then hauled out the compost Ruth Stout style after another successful and delicious “Taco Tuesday”. 🌮🤩

Sharpened a couple chainsaws and irrigated the trees over by the Turtle lot this morning. In the afternoon we repaired junk pole fencing at Allerton Abbey.
