Hi all - I'm new here, long-time tinkerer, first-time poster. My wife and I garden and homestead, and I'm a network engineer by day, so I ended up building a little Android app for our own use - and figured this is exactly the crowd whose honest feedback I'd trust most.
It's called Moon Phase Garden. It does:
- A photo garden journal - log what you planted, when, with notes and tags, so you actually remember what worked
- Planting suggestions based on your USDA hardiness zone
- A 7-day forecast with automatic frost/freeze alerts
- Optional moon-phase planting timing (fully skippable if that's not your thing)
- A small wild-edible foraging reference (with toxic look-alike warnings) and a survival-nutrition gap tracker
The stuff I care about most: no ads, no tracking, no account required, and it works offline. Everything stays on your device - I didn't want to build the kind of app I'd hate to use.

I'm genuinely after feedback, not downloads - what's confusing, what's missing, what a real homesteader would actually want.
