Hopi red kidney pole beans

I am trying to find a very old bean seed. I have looked all of the seed suppliers with no luck.
Just though I might try some of some forum web sites.

I am looking to track down some viable seeds of the Hopi Red Kidney Pole Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris). My ultimate goal is to launch a dedicated multiplication grow-out to increase the critically low supply of this incredible variety and get it back into wider community distribution. About the Variety Origin: Traditional heirloom cultivated by the Hopi people of the American Southwest. Traits: Vining pole habit (6–8+ feet), excellent drought tolerance once established, and produces beautiful, deep reddish-purple kidney beans. Current Status: Becoming incredibly difficult to find commercially or through standard seed swaps, leaving it highly vulnerable to being lost.

The Plan & Protocols
I have isolated garden space ready to handle a controlled grow-out. I will be strictly enforcing preservation protocols: Maintaining a strict 10 to 20-foot isolation distance from other Phaseolus varieties to prevent crossing. Hand-harvesting and processing only completely dry, vine-matured pods. Distributing the multiplied yield back into regional seed banks, community swaps, and indigenous seed repositories.

Hello, quite intrigued by your proposition.  I’ve grown Cherokee Trail of Tears pole beans for a few years now, from Baker Creek seeds.  Insatiably tall vines they spread 12-14ft up several Fir Trees next to my garden.  Both bean varieties take to acidic loamy soil, perfect here although I would guess Pine in their native range.  Prolific doesn’t describe the harvest which has been better each year. As summers have dried here both bean varieties thrived to the point I feed much of the vines and shelled pods to the pigs.  Pods turned red then harvest, but beans are black.  Sound about right?  My other variety is the Anasazi Cave bean they are red beans, both can be found online I believe.   National Germoplasm, Geneva NY, or Pullman, WA Plant Introduction and Testing Research Station may know where a collection of what you seek may be found.  A truly worthy art,  best of luck to your efforts.  Cheers
