it is very mild, but likely involve the purging- puking.
the ayahuasca vine -banisteriopsis caapi- is an MAOI, the other companion plant is the one with tryptamines (and the psychedelic effects - DMT)...the MAOI plant makes it so that the dmt and tryptamines work.
anywho if you are curious about this i would instead recommend trying passionflower leaves. it has some of the same effects, is an MAOI, and minus the puking. they both share in harmala alkaloids, which is what makes the ayahuasca work. it is calming and mellow, really not that noticeable but would give you a sense of what the harmala alkaloids are like, without puking.
i personally am not very drawn to ayahuasca myself, i have seen it brewed and people taking it and never felt called to it at all, so i suppose i am a bit wary of it. but i get curious about plants, so i have spent some time studying about it, psychedelics are pretty interesting and i think may be worth some more open discussion, study and reflection. i think its a powerful plant teacher, but should be approached with respect and a lot of caution.
