After reading through a good
thread started by Ann here:
https://permies.com/t/43673/critter-care/livestock-aid-kit i though it would be a good idea to start a cow specific first aid thread.
What types of things would you keep on hand for
cattle first aid.
i guess the kits would vary whether you have
beef or
dairy cattle, so its probably best to separate into 2 groups, although i know some items would cross over.
i would like suggestions to be as natural as possible - but keeping in mind you don't want to lose a $2000 cow because you don't have a $10 tube of [unnatural] calcium.
Dairy:
calcium (for
milk fever)
blood stop
something to solve a major bloat problem (forget the product name. a knife in extreme cases
)
gauze
iodine
duct tape
calf pulling chains
plastic gloves (shoulder length and regular)
Beef: (i personally dont have much
experience here)
blood stop
something to solve a major bloat problem
gauze
iodine
duct tape
plastic gloves
please quote and add/correct these lists.
thanks in advance.
