I don't know how many of you are familiar with iTunes University.  I just discovered it recently and I'm pretty jazzed about it.  Anyhow, I found a permaculture course and thought that some people here might be interested.  The course is HS 495 Introduction to Permaculture.  It was taught by Will Hooker at North Carolina State University in 2003.  Every lecture was video taped, the entire semester.  It is available for free download.  They are videos so the files are quite large and download is bandwith intensive, but I've been downloading a few lectures each night.  The information is great, and best of all, it's free!!  Check out the iTunes store and navigate to iTunes University.  A quick search for permaculture will point you to the video files.

I was watching these for a while, but took a break.  Interesting overall, but skip the first episode - total waste of time IMO.  Maybe I'll watch some more tonight.

Thanks for the info. If it is of interest to anyone, I tend to listen and watch many audio and video content at a faster speed than recorded. Depending on the method, 1.5x to 3x tends to work well. Can cover more stuff in less time. iPod will play audio back at 2x if you set is as a podcast or audiobook.

Thanks for the info. Here's a link to a gardening australia tv series. Their shows are also downloadable.

You can watch the course online, without iTunes, at http://mediasite.online.ncsu.edu/online/Catalog/pages/catalog.aspx?catalogId=1ec0688b-568a-4a47-a8ca-8926e7b4ef1b .  Besides the lecture video, it also shows the instructor's slides.

Edit:  Original link was only to first lecture.  Replace with index to all lectures.

Great links here.  Even after just the first video in the series I have a list of things to research now!

I bought the required text books for the course: Gaia's Garden and Intro to Permaculture.  But I gave up on watching the course, and have just been reading and rereading the books.  Everytime I pick one of the books up I find something I missed/forgot the first time through.

No, Tribalwind's link is the newest because in the first Will talks about him wanting to be a certified pyrotechnic and in the second he talks about him being one. It would be great if you could link to the index in that one too, instead of just the one introduction lecture. Thanks, this is great stuff!

Yeah I can't find it on iTunes U but the other link works great for streaming.
If you use the link that notduff posted you can pick and choose the lecture by title.

This is great everyone, thank you.

(Read whole post and take note, there may be multiple ways to accomplish what you are trying to do)

Okay, I might be able to help you out a bit. Looks like they are not 'listed' in itunes anymore. Go figure. Here are instructions that work for me. You may be able to do it other ways.

Note: not sure about HS 495. I can get you to HS 432.
I have had one of the HS 432 courses downloaded. Took the time to see if they were there from the machine it listed, and found the rest of the course is still there. Copied the link to another computer and can get them on that computer with itunes, so this may work for you.

on a mac
- open up itunes
- click and drag the url link below to the song list or podcast part of your itunes window. It should highlight with a blue outline.

http://deimos3.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/Feed/ncsu.edu-dz.4191332849.04191332851

- you should now have the ability to see HS 432 Intro to Permaculuture

If that does not work, try

- opening the link in safari (other web browsers should work, but not tested)
- then click the apple icon to the left of the url  and drag it into the itunes window where your songs etc are listed (it will highlight a blue line around that area)

ANOTHER OPTION (with links to other sites and ways to download HS 432):
