The best way I have found to get decision makers to go with the more sustainable choice is to show them that choice in action, and let them talk with the person(s) in charge at that place.

Tonight I ran across a video of someone doing just that. The subject is not permaculture (it is focused on getting more city dwellers to travel via bicycle). But I really like the process they are using.



I think such an approach could work with permaculture, and many of the other subjects in the permies.com forums.

My landscaping customers see me using all electric tools, salvaging plants that are in the way of development and sourcing free supplies through my network. They pass me along to others. My success rate with these leads must be about 75%.

I save most of my preaching for near the end of a successful job. People who have saved a bunch of money, are a friendly audience.
