can i dig up my asparagus crowns and divide them and put them back in the bed in bare spots?? the bed is about 10 years old and i have some plants that are all gnarled, and wonky so i think i'll just pull those and replace them with others in the bed

Only time I ever did it was fall. Never tried it this time of year, so I don't know if it would work or not.

Is there a certain age of crowns that someone should wait for before splitting or is it by size?

I'm at about four years now with my current asparagus bed and thinking about establishing a second one.
