I think it was 2002 when I built this. I happened to have a small mountain of 18 foot long 2x6s and I needed a goat shelter.

Once again, the general design is something where I want to not paint or treat the wood, so I make a generous overhang.

And I had all the free metal roofing I wanted, so it played a large roll in this structure.

Unlike the pig shelter - you can't put a floor in a goat shelter because the goats poop wherever they are. Pigs will only poop and pee outside.

In the third picture you can see where I made a small hole in the skid and put a bit of steel cable through it for dragging the structure.

I like to have the metal extend beyond the wood to keep the wood out of the weather. It isn't perfect, but it is pretty good. The sharp edges of the metal worry me quite a lot, but in all the time I used it, we never had a problem.

Actually skidding/dragging the structure.

For a while there was a horse in with the goats. That horse just loved to hang out in the shelter.

The last picture is when the shelter had racked up a couple of years.
