I have this slope (somewhere 45° angle). Soil is kinda dry and slope itself doesn't get lots of sun. For now i'm considering gooseberry and I saved lupines seeds and will sow them soon on the whole slope. I would like to plant the whole slope with bushes and other perennials. I'm in temperate climate. Any ideas for plants?
fruit trees will love your west facing slope..you might however need to dam the water around their trunks with a basin or swale to keep the water from draining away too quickly in the rain..i suggest a swale with a heavy mulch on the down slope side of the trunks.
cherry and peach/plum/apricot family would do really well on a west slope..anywhere between the very top and the very bottom..as long as there isn't terrible winds..as the frost will drain away down the slope and being west facing it will not warm up as early in the spring so it will be less likely that you'll lose your blossoms to late spring frosts.

Bloom where you are planted.

This is how it looks like in my head right now - planting, then putting short logs on the down slope side of the plants. Logs can be secured with rocks. And then mulching everything.
I haven't tough about fruit trees, especially not peaches and apricots, thanks for that one.
