Hi all,

I plan to move back to the woods this summer/fall after my cabin burned down last winter. No insurance and lost everything I owned. I'm into prepping and off grid living. First of all I need to replace all that I lost, and then build a new simple cabin good enough to survive the coming winter.

Here's "Hundeper", or Dog-Pete, in his Hobbit-like hut:

Hard to follow for most on here I guess but quite some may get an idea of what I'm up to. What I plan to put up before the coming winter is smaller and simpler..

With my bug out stuff in order I should be able to establish a certain degree of self sufficiency over time. Perma culture will be part of the strategy.
Riding out the coming storm is the challenge I'm trying to take on. The storm may last longer than my/our lifetime but I'd like to end my days in relative peace at least. My current look on developments around the globe is that things need to become a lot worse before they can get better.

Well that is what's buzzing around in my head for now- simple life, survival and maintain OK health. Some of my other interests are alternative medicine and nutrition.

Thanks for the bunch of info and constructive engagement that is being shared here on Permies.com - it's of great value and appreciated.
Btw I got here because of my interests for rocket stoves and rocket mass heaters.

Hello Martin,

Welcome to the Permies community. Thanks for sharing some of your interests. I myself discovered Permaculture when research something else all together, peak oil. Yet, the Permaculture community is a great community so I keep coming back. I hope you are able to share some of your projects with us.
