I know anniversaries are like Hallmark holidays but we still took notice of this one. One year ago today, before ever having used a sawdust toilet I threw caution to the wind and removed my flush toilet to make room for the sawdust version. This was not a typical trial run as there is no other toilet in this building or on this property to use in the case of a glitch or an ewww event. Within two weeks I removed the flange and water supply from the former toilet area and we floored over the patched hole areas. That is a lot of pails of sawdust in and stuff out but we have no plans to change.
As a side note we have had two people full time for the year with one here for six months and away for the other six. On the assumption that everyone flushed 5 times per day and each flush used 13 litres that works out to a saving of 59000 litres, rounded down or about 13000 imperial gallons of water.
Life is too short or my list is too long, not sure which.
