99% were spam accounts.  A few real accounts may have been accidentally deleted along the way.  Sorry about that.

Over the last week, thousands more were deleted and the same thing happened.

Sorry again.

About 10,000 accounts were deleted today.  All of them had zero posts.

I imagine it's time-consuming,  boring, depressing work, but if you can stem the spam-tide, I'm very grateful.
Learning Cyrillic, watching porn or purchasing dodgy pharmaceuticals is not something I head to permies for!

Many sites will not allow you to post on the first day you register.  It is amazing how little SPAM those sites get.  The typical spammer is not going to bother to come back tomorrow to post his/her spam.  As far as porn is concerned, I have nothing against it, but do not consider it to be a 'spectator sport'.

I found the fact that i was deleted because i had not posted yet a little shocking.  I am 90 % sure i had an account here because i do try and visit the forum when we have a rainy day and can not do much outside. I just have not had much to share or ask at the moment, and like to used the account to keep track of what posts i have seen and read vs those that i have not.

I found this frustrating because the rule was "be nice" not post often. I understand the need to keep out spam accounts and have some understanding as to why you did it. i am just wondering if there is a better way then deleting all the lurking people's accounts.

Any how with that aside i do want to thank you Paul and all the active members on the board for all your time and wisdom placed on here. I hope to return the favor some time. maybe share my experiences once i begin to implement much of the stuff discussed on here.

For the recent deletes, all of those accounts had zero posts and the user had not visited the forums for the last several months.

When do you think your account was deleted?

I checked my old emails and it looks like i registered on March 23. I think the last time i logged in was in mid to late may. Not sure exactly when, as this planting season has been hectic. A lot to get strait with starting our market garden. A huge difference from 1/10th of an acre to 3.5 acres.

Thank you for the customer support.

Woo, i just got banned and reinstated - thank you for fixing it, Mr. Wheaton! It's true I hadn't posted at all yet, but I do read the site daily since I joined (a month ago) and it's one of my few 'saved tabs' that open automatically with my browser, and i chose the stay-permanently-logged-in option as a kind of encouragement to post because I know i tend to be quiet...like, really REALLY quiet, ha. Guess I'll make a liiiittle bit more of an effort to jump in and post! Anyway, happy to be back, I love this site. =)

Thousands more today.  More than 10,000.

This parrot is no more. It has ceased to be. Now it's a tiny ad:
