Hi All-
I just stumbled across this idea the other night and wanted to pass it on. For those who consume a lot of the podcasts and want to speed the process up:
Download VLC player if you don't have it already
Play the podcast in VLC player and under the 'playback' adjust playback speed to a setting that works for you. I'm finding that around 1.3X is great for me. With this little trick you could listen all 326 podcasts in the time that it would take to listen to about 250 at normal speed! If you're really focused you could get it up to 1.5x plus. For those people who are on a mission to listen to all of the podcasts quickly... this could really help. I'm sure that there are ways of doing this so that you can listen to them on an mp3 player at faster speeds as well.
You can also do this with youtube videos. If you have a newish computer and browser you can enable HTML5 for Youtube and speed up playback to 1.5X (or 1.25X or 2.0X). Just did this for the dandelion
video.
Toby Hemenway's thoughtful pace works perfectly for 1.5x speed! Now you can watch a 15 minute video during a ten minute break. Or a 45 minute video during a thirty minute sitting.
I originally got this idea from this video- which is about reading
books with an audio book it the background at 2X:
