Forest Garden Design Intensive in Australia March 25 - April 3 2016

Come to cool temperate South Eastern Australia (Ballarat, Victoria) to join Dave Jacke, with a range of local permaculture experts, including co-founder David Holmgren who will lead students on a full day visit to his home property, Melliodora, where we will review plantings and design features relevant to forest gardening.

Spend this 9 day course immersed in the theory & practice of designing forest gardens, and enjoy a unique accelerated training in design that can apply to ALL your permaculture and life projects. Dave Jacke is well known as the primary author of the award winning Edible Forest Gardens texts and a leading independent voice in the permaculture community.

For more information, including registration links and information about Community Supported Education (CSE) which can help cover your course fees, go to http://www.chestnutfarm.net.au/?page_id=123

Don't come to Oz just for the course, though - integrate it into a tour of permaculture demonstration sites.. and maybe the odd photograph of you and a kangaroo! ...

What is your connection to the course? I'm seriously considering this - I have family in Melbourne and it would make a great excuse for me to come out. I don't have a PDC yet, which I hope is not a problem?

Hi Mike,

I'm organising the course and Dave's visit. I completed the Forest Garden Design Intensive with Dave in 2013, I was blown away by the forest garden information, but also by the really elegant design of the educational experience. My professional background is in education & psychology so I was tracking the educational process as much as the forest garden design information. Last year, I went to a teacher training event with Dave in Tennessee and invited Dave to come out to run this programme.

Dave doesn't require a PDC for the course, although obviously you'll get more out of the course the more you prepare & are aware of permaculture and forest garden information ... particularly reading as much as you can of Edible Forest Gardens. My guess is that as you've been checking out permies.com you are already interested in permaculture!

Ballarat is about 60 minutes drive from Melbourne, so visiting the relatives will be easy!

warm regards, Steve
