That's why I think we've all felt the need to homeschool & are now homeschooling or unschooling which is a type of homeschooling not no schooling.

My definition of unschooling is discussion, hands-on, empirical, heuristic, student-centered, relevancy based learning where a habitat is the focus not the lesson plan as much since you never know what a child will need to develop. I like to think of things in a simple metaphor when it comes to my teaching others especially children - Everyone has a message they are here to bring to everyone else. I have NO IDEA what each person's true message is (and I am not meant to "figure it out" only facilitate the discovery of that message by the child themselves). I cannot dictate, only support who they are meant to be. What I've found in my experience is that once you set children free, they are unstoppable.

Our culture, our ability to be positive forces on this earth & our futures need to align. Schooling is that key. We all know it. That is why we pulled them out. It's now a cusp moment - we can shift our entire culture if we do this right & I believe we are heading in the right direction more & more these days (not on tv or the web as much but person to person I see it & hear it - change is happening!)

Schooling is how culture is passed on; it's time we change what is being passed on & how. The only way we can do that is by doing it ourselves. Thank you all for being awesome & homeschooling.

Matt,

Thank you for your well said message here. We too are an unschooling family.

I love how you said not no schooling

Unschooling is ALL about learning in the present moment. I agree that approaching "schooling" and "learning" differently is how the world changes.

Your comment about "doing it ourselves" I call insourcing.

In a world where everything can be outsourced, sometimes we need to insource our lives and reconnect.
