Hope I am posting in the correct sub-forum. I am interested in making my own plant amendments in powder form. I am wondering what I can grow, and how I could go about growing and processing it into powder form so that it's then bottled and preserved for use in gardening/farming for the food highest potency/nutrient value? Thank you
First look at plants that are high in nitrogen and see if they can grow in you area. Comfrey, alfalfa, clover, certain grasses and even weeds can be grown and the harvested. I dont see the need to store for later use though. If your using your garden every year, it needs to be fed. I went to my localfeed store and got alfalfa meal, blood meal and oyster shell mixed well, and put in each hole for squash and tomatoes that were being planted in sand and gravel. Results were amazing. Be sure to mulch and do not use wood chips or sawdust. They take nitrogen out of soil to breakdown.Sheeps wool is good also.
I've been slowly doing the same thing myself.
Aside from the aforementioned organic fertilizing crops, grinding up things like seafood shells, bones, animal blood if you can get it, rock dust (hard to make but find a quorry and they will have it) and a few other things that make good amendments but I can't recall right now.
Live free or die trying.
