The average household contributes 60 tons greenhouse gasses each year.

It is plausible that a single person, with zero fame, can chip away 10 to 1000 tons in one hour a day by doing nothing more than making links to good articles on good topics.

This thread is a feeble attempt to make an easy framework for a person to share ideas for a better world (read more about this idea in the spiffy thread). Each post in this thread is about a topic and will contain a link to a thread about that topic. Such a post will contain a small bit of information about that topic, plus an estimate of how many tons of greenhouse gasses will be reduced if 100 people are convinced to try it for one year.

I hereby give staff permission to edit this post, plus all of the posts in this thread.

Please put a thumbs up on the posts that you think are best.

Sequester carbon with hugelkultur or buried wood beds. If 100 people put 1 cord of wood in a hugelkultur or buried wood bed, it can sequester approximately 250 tons of CO2. https://permies.com/t/51518/hugelkultur/spiffy-hugelkultur

If 100 households switch from a clothes dryer to using a clothes drying rack, that could cut 50 tons of greenhouse gasses per year

spiffy: use a clothesline and/or a clothes drying rack

If 100 households converted from natural gas heat to RMH's that could cut over 500 tons of greenhouse gasses a year.

spiffy: natural gas to rocket stove mass heater
