AERO is the closest organization that is doing anything to promote the transition town conversation. Maybe Sustainable Living Systems in the Bitterroot....

Yes, Transition is happening in Missoula!  A group of 9 women (we'd like men, too) started reading The Transition Handbook in August, calling our effort "Transition Town Missoula?"  Our aim is to remove the question mark from that.  We organized a showing of End of Suburbia on Oct. 24 at the Library, and are planning a talk & discussion with Dr. Steve Running on Nov. 10.  His topic is "Thinking Beyond Climate Change to Transforming Society". (Sounds like you, doesn't it, how to rule the world?)  It's at University Congregational Church, 405 University Ave, Fireside Room, 6:30 PM.
Also, I just discovered that there is another parallel effort in Missoula, formed by Derek Kanwischer, who has a website already, "Transition Missoula".
We should all get together!

Paul, your video and this site is great.  It will take me a while to figure out all your fun stuff.

Derek has a bunch of posts here too.  Derek was part of the posse that went to see Toby Hemenway in eastern montana.

Definitely join forces!

Transition Town Missoula meeting

Please join Transition Town Missoula for an organizational meeting to discuss our budding strategy to declare Missoula a model town for demonstrating sustainability and resilience in the face of climate change, economic instability, and natural resource limits. The meeting will be Tuesday 11/29 from 12 noon to 1:00 in the large meeting room at the Missoula Public Library. For more information, to join the movement, or otherwise, please visit www.transitiontownmissoula.org.

There's a free school group that's been going through the Transition Handbook and discussing a couple chapters at a time in a fairly informal, free-form manner. It meets on the ground floor of the University Center every Thursday at 5:30pm. At the next session on January 19, we will be discussing Chapters 11-13.

After that, we'll be finished with the Transition Handbook, and so we might move on to studying another book, possibly something permaculture-related (but not necessarily), depending on what the group as a whole is most interested in. All are welcome to join in and participate.
