Please I need help, I got a chest freezer a week ago, so I can make ice for keeping my fish but I am failing at making the ice blocks, I use poly bags but they just burst, anyone knows how I can do it right

Wayne Clarke : Sorry, I mis-read your other post! I use large Commercial Mayonnaise Jars slightly bigger than 1 gallon. The secret is in NOT sealing the container,

And filling it a little less than full -to allow room for expansion ! If you made up a single layer of your poly bags in a "Milk Crate'' so that they are all supporting each

other successfully while not sealed tightly - expect some leaking/drainage/spills - and then transferred the whole thing to a level spot in your freezer that should work.

After you have made your 1st batch, Recycle 1/2 of the frozen blocks to make up your 2nd batch, being surrounded by ice will greatly speed up the time to freeze the

2nd batch !


Interestingly the reason that the chest freezer is better than an upright is that all the cold air falls out when you open the door of the upright model. The more stored

ice in ether model will reduce the how often ether type will have to run. Good luck ! Big AL
