Calving

We had a calf yesterday late afternoon. Has been trying to suck since then, and was unable to. Was able to feed it a quart of colostrum late last night, to get it through. The calf has still been unable to suck as of early this a.m. The momma is not allowing her to even try anymore, the calf is very weak and will not drink the bottled colostrum at all.
I need some advise? Is getting it into a warm bath the best bet right now? Is there anything I can do, the calf is too weak to even try to drink the colostrum...

If the cald won't suck, you need to use a feeding tube to get it through until it will suck. Your local calf care store should have a tube with simple directions how to use it. Momma might not be back for this one for whatever reason - if you can pull it through a bottle raised calf can be a wonderful pet!

Do not bath it, that will take away its scent and the mother will likely reject it. If possible tie the mother up/confine her so that the calf can suck. If you stick your thumb in the side of a calves mouth they will start sucking, while you do this try to get the primed (make sure milk is coming) teat into the calfs mouth. You may also want to try grain/chop/mollasses on the back of the calf to get the mother to lick it and accept it. Be careful of course, good luck. (Also consider electrolytes if you cannot get milk replacer or milk the cow to tube feed. You need to get fluid in as quickly as possible).
