Is there a jump to last post button? I can't find one.

I take it there is not one? I'm also curious to know if there is a "new posts" button. On the other SMF forums there are.

do you want to jump to your last post?  it's not one button, but if you click on your profile you can scroll down to the 'view latest posts' link.

also in your profile are your notification settings.  you can set those to be notified of new posts.

don't know if that's what you were after.

SMF software normally has a "View the most recent posts on the forum." link on the main/home page, under the list of forums/boards.

Yes, and it's absent.

it's there on the menu of forums, but not in the individual forums.  look all the way to the right.

The "jump to..." drop down menu list is at the bottom right on each individual forum page, like the bottom right of this page. Just below the "reply" button, but above the ads.    There is no "latest posts", none I can see anywhere. All these things can be removed by the forum owner if they want to for any reason. It could also be that this older version of SMF never had it in the first place, but most likely it has just been removed.

Oh, yes, I see it. You just click the topic. But there is no jump to last post button on every topic, as on most forums.

https://permies.com/permaculture-forums/5847_0/permaculture/new-forum-software
Any chance this new software will include a jump to first new post feature?

Head over to coderanch.com and have a look.  Since I don't use anything like that, I don't know if it is there.

I'm not an admin so I can't use code to change anything here even for just myself.
I just wondered if you had something in the admin controls to allow  a jump to first new post? This is the only message board that I have been on in many years that doesn't have that feature enabled. I assumed they all had it by now.

SMF software has the lower right "jump to" a topic, selected from a drop down menu and then there are the choices illustrated in the screen shot clip below. Are we looking for something like the Recent Posts,   or    Latest Post,    or    View the most recent posts on the forum. ?

I would be looking to jump to the first unread post in a thread. A lot of message boards now seem to have a clickable icon next to the thread titles that will take you to the first post in that thread that you have not read.

We'll be moving to the new software soon.  If this is a feature you want, and it doesn't exist in the new software, now is a good time to ask for it.  Direct your query to the "ranch office" forum at coderanch.com.

You are on Homesteadingtoday.com. Do you use the small arrow button that appears after the date?

This is a pie feature!

These are available under your profile settings if you have pie:
Keep track of threads read on a thread by thread basis -  Keep a record on which post you have last read on a thread (while you are logged in)
Show, in a thread, how far you have viewed in the past -  Show a green horizontal line to indicate how far you have previously viewed in a thread.
Navigate to the last post you have viewed -  When this option is selected, clicking on a thread will take you to the last post you have viewed in the past.

I love the green line!
