If permaculture teaches us anything, it's that farming does not have to look like the last picture. We have so many tools in our toolbelt to create a more thriving ecosystem that produces more food for both humans and other animals. Food forests, hedgerows, living fences, polycultures, companion plants, etc all help provide habitat and food for animals, while also slowing wind and hampering pests, diseases, and fungi.
 
Do the next thing next. That's a pretty good rule. Read the tiny ad, that's a pretty good rule, too.
