Hello everyone! I have created this thread/topic as a subtopic of the Meme Factory so that the process of creating memes runs smoothly for everyone. This topic will be dedicated to photo submissions for the Meme Factory. If anyone posts photos here, this means that consent has been for the Meme Factory volunteers to download the photos and work on them to create memes to spread the empire. All photos posted here have the possibility of appearing anywhere on the Internet for aiding the spread of the empire.

Just a few things to remember:
You are not trying to summarize ALL of permaculture in one picture; that would be extremely difficult. It could be done, and it would be amazing to see. There are fantastic food forests and farms out there! However, it might be easier to focus on one or two bricks of permaculture at a time in each photo.
Another friendly reminder, keep things nice; nothing rude, crude, or lude (made up a word to rhyme) permitted.

Thank you everyone for posting photos. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Here are links to the other parts of the meme factory, so that nothing gets lost:

Meme Factory (this topic is dedicated to the finalized memes that anyone can grab from this topic and post anywhere in their Internet footprints):
https://permies.com/t/36914/tnk/Meme-Factory

Meme Factory Soundboard (This topic is dedicated to all initial means. People can comment on memes and act as a test audience before the memes end up on the Meme Factory topic and go to the rest of the Internet. Here people will comment on how to make the memes more effective and interesting.):
https://permies.com/t/36923/tnk/Meme-Factory-Soundboard

Meme Factory Photo Submissions: (This is where you currently are. Here is the link to it anyways.)

Thank you for participating and submitting photos Rebecca and Nicola! The photos and memes are beautiful! Keep up the wonderful posts! I will be posting photos from the detours I made on my college trip visits for Zone 5 inspiration! They will most likely be posted within a week of returning home because I'lll have to figure out how to download and organize the files.

"Look at the world differently through Permaculture' or "Look at the world in a different light through Permaculture"

The photos are beautiful Judith! Once you figure it out, just post to the Meme Factory Soundboard and see what other people think. Have you searched for any tutorials online on photo editing? For an effective search, I would suggest doing the following:

Type in the keywords: (operating system) (version of OS) photo editor tutorial free

Example search: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr photo editor tutorial free

Ubuntu is the OS; Trusty Tahr is the version.

Ken, the picture definitely has great potential for memes; however, I would like to keep this topic to photo submissions only. The tinkering with memes is meant to happen under the topic Meme Factory Soundboard, and the finalized memes go under the Meme Factory thread. The point of requesting this categorization in purposes of each topic is to make making the memes run smoother and in an orderly fashion. Thank you for being patient, and I look forward to more of your posts Ken!

Dave, I added the 'art, music and aesthetics' forum to all three of your meme topics in 'tinkering' in order to encourage more folks to participate. Can you think of any more forums that could be associated?

Thank you so much for helping more people find this topic, Judith.

The only others I can think of are the following (with a line of thought as to why these threads are relevant to that section of the forum):

-Communications (we're trying to communicate with more people)

-Blatant Advertising (we're blatantly advertising permaculture and permies.com)

-Wensites (we're talking about permies.com through meme making)

However, I think I am stretching the interpretation of each section of the forum a little. What do you think? Would the Meme Factory threads be relevant?

Jocelyn, the long photos have terrific potential because a person could read the top and scroll down to the bottom of the photo instead of seeing everything at once.

Please may you explain to me how to make a long photo/picture?

We recently got approval by Paul Wheaton to quote him. Here's a fast update on how the meme-making can be more efficient and fun:

1) Finding/making quotes are advised for posting in:
https://permies.com/t/16151/tnk/paul-quotes
2)Submitting Photos for use by meme volunteers: (the thread you currently are in)
3)Making initial memes for critiques:
https://permies.com/t/36923/tnk/Meme-Factory-Soundboard
4)Posting finalized memes for use by everyone:

Paul took the long photos. I'm not sure if it was a wide angle lens shot rotated 90-degrees, or if he cropped the photo into a long strip.

Oh my, where do I begin? We actually have two teepees/tipis (either spelling is correct, I just go for the shorter one!). People camp/live in the tipis here.

The one in the picture above was made by the same tipi makers as the folks who made tipis for the movie Dances with Wolves, so a guy here named the meadow where we first placed the tipi the dances with pigs meadow.

Tony and Emily spent this past winter in our second tipi heated by a rocket mass heater.

Both. That pic was definitely a zone 5 location.
On Mother's Day, I hiked up the hill behind our house here at base camp (zone 2) to pick wild flowers, the arrowleaf balsamroot included - and tore my skirt by stepping on it!

I was thinking, "Bird poop. It's a good thing. Find out more at permies.com"

Am I doing this right? Is it preferred that we submit only photos and a predetermined set of people are writing the phrases? Perhaps I misunderstand the organizational scheme.

You are allowed to post more than photos, just please post the other items in their designated threads. Anyone can post photos for meme use in the Meme Factory Photo Submissions thread. Anyone may post initial memes in the Meme Factory Soundboard thread. Anyone may critique anyone's memes posted in the Meme Factory Soundboard thread. The Soundboard is just meant to be where ideas of how to make memes more effective occur and also function as a screening room. Once anyone has said anything nice about a meme it is considered approved for posting in the Meme Factory thread. Approval is that simple, you just need anyone from the permies.com community to say something nice about your meme. Not even saying is required, just a simple thumbs up suffices for approval. Anyone in the permies.com community is allowed to copy absolutely any memes they like from the Meme Factory thread and post them ANYWHERE they like online (FaceBook, Tumblr, Twitter, MySpace, Google+, etc).

In the Meme Factory and Meme Factory Soundboard threads there are explanations on how to make memes. Traditional and non-traditional memes are all welcome! Everyone's creativity is welcome! No one has been designated anything. I call them and myself Meme Factory volunteers because we are voluntarily making memes for anyone to use. Anyone can be a volunteer. That is why I called it that. Maybe that is why some people got confused.

Also, considering the culture around traditional memes, nobody really is going to complain as long as the image isn't copyrighted. That is why I gave that emphasis at the beginning of the thread because I am worried about copyright infringements. Even then, some companies like memes because it makes them business.
