I just came across this video and thought people would be interested. He talks about simple insulating interior shutters, wood fire heat to efficiently heat a  10,000 sq ft building with insulation and thermal mass, repurposing appliances like a chest freezer into an energy efficient refrigerator, etc. I haven't even gotten through the whole video yet. He put these gems out in the first 13 minutes of a 43 minute video. This is all stuff in use at the monastery that he's discussing, not just theory. I searched and didn't find a reference to this video so here it is. Most of this is probably somewhere or another on the forum, but this is a nice concentrated dose.
