I've been getting lots of email about this.

Gmail has gone stupid with links.  When you get an email from the forum software and click on it, gmail strips off all the particulars in that link.

To get it to work properly, you will need to copy the full link and paste it into your browser.

That's odd.

All the emails I get through my Gmail accounts all still have links that work when I click on them. I had a few this morning as a matter of fact.

This morning one of the messages in my inbox was a topic notification that came from permies to me through my gmail address. Both the link to the topic and the link to unsubscribe worked fine. Same thing when I receive emails from Country Plans forum. This includes the emails I get when someone clicks and sends a "report to moderator" from both permies and CP as well as emails from everywhere else.

Is the problem occurring in gmail on-line?  I too use gmail, have it redirected to my Thunderbird and it is always fine.

BTW - all those time out and other strange errors with posting stopped just after my last post/discussion about them.  I never tried IE or changed my software

I had a look at my Gmail accounts right on Gmail itself. The links in the messages are all fine there too just as they are when the email gets forwarded to my Thunderbird client.

There must be some separate issue that some folks are encountering.

Thought I would post my experience using gmail.

I registered, then checked my mail.  I clicked on the link in G-mail.  It took me to a login page which asked for user name and password.  I entered both.  Could not login.  Kept being told my email needed to be verified.  I then tried entering the activation code, instead of my password.  This didn't work either.

Finally contacted the site admin who suggested i copy and paste the link.  This took me to the same page that the link in gmail took me to, but this time, I was able to login.

I use Gmail and just registered this afternoon. Upon receiving the activation email (from a browser, not Thunderbird), I simply right-clicked and selected 'Open in a new tab' (Firefox 3.6.13). It all worked fine, no issues at all. If this is browser specific, then I can report the issue doesn't affect the above version of FF.
