On the topic you may or may not have created, certainly the post you just wrote up and posted TO a topic... what about the Likes, Apples, and Pie?

Just going through it again.

When you post something to a topic or start your own topic, any post within can receive likes/unlikes; apples/apple cores, and PIE.

What is going on?

Almost everyone on Permies can give your post a like or unlike. It shows how much people like or don't like, what you wrote. Try to stay within 'stay on topic' and the forum 'be nice' rules. (There ARE places to post your religious, political, and other beliefs, Permies does allow such, but it's called the Cider Press and you have to have enough apples to post there. Just the rules)

Moderators from Pollenators on up, can award apples. The apple means the post is in the Spirit of Perrmies.com, it also generally imparts a donation to the knowledge, experience, and wisdom here on Permies. It adds to the entire "Permie-ness' of the site. This is not a fixed set of guidelines, but a lot of the staff tend to think along the same lines so it all ends up pretty consistent. Do not ask for nor beg for apples for yourself, this is poor taste. However, if you meet a post you think deserves an apple, use the 'report' button and type that in. All reported posts end up going through a moderator review for content, and a lot do award apples this way to deserving posts.

It may take awhile for a poster to figrure out how to contribute to the forum knowledge to the point they get an apple, (I will admit I had 168 posts befrore I garnered my first one)

Pie is awarded according to the reader's merits. It may be a general member or it may be a person on staff. If they have 'pie' in their 'account' they can gift the poster and post with a slice. It transfers from them to the poster so honored.

You can earn pie by collecting 10 apples for great posts, and also to support the empire (and gain some favor) you can buy slices of pie.

Each slice confers a month to the 'pie only perks' which can be a nice set of little bonuses and bending rules.

Again, don't beg for pie. You can either buy or earn some, or be gifted with some. Pie is close to the ultimate compliment to your post....

Above all do not PM (Purple Mooseage) about likes, apples, or pie to anyone and try to beg for same. Poor taste.

Hope some of this helps.

I wish I could be half as happy as this tiny ad!
