Hey

So i know paul is superbusy, and though i hope he finds the time to answer, i ll just ask the question openly hoping that other people knowledgable about this stuff read it.

I set up a dutch permie forums because i really enjoy all the good stuff here on permies.com

I am a forumsuser, i like internetcommunities, i am also on a whoolspinning forum and some more stuff.

i was allready posting and linking permies where i can as i do with all kind of stuff, now on the forums i am not only directing towards permies because its such a good source of information, but also to give an example of how great it coul be.

Still i do feel a need for a dutch forum for people who dont speak english (well), and to create a community between dutch permies, becose our numbers are growing really fast here.

The old pc forums wasnt active anymore apart from spambots, so i tried to jumpstart the lot with a new forum that looks a bit better, two months ago, and it seems to be taking off now. Still i am a total n00b if it comes to computers.

I use forummotion, a free forum provider, but i paid some money to get more storagespace and get rid of the adds, but i found out i have to do this every year or half year. I thus figured that this deal you have with amazon paul, is a sensible way to try and get some of that needed money.

Now i have a huge banner on top that is moving all the time :
http://permacultuur.actieforum.com/

And its on top of the page, not below. Also it only apears in the main indexpage.
i will have to find someone in my own surroundings to fix the placing, but i wonder why i can not find the code for the type you have here on permies.com: this neat little, narrow strip at the bottom that changes every other minute.

any thoughts are welkom,
thanks
Joop

Go here....  https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/

anyone with a webpage of some kind can sign up. You place links on it to amazon products. If someone buys something you get paid. That's the short story.

yep, did that,

but the code i get there gives this huge continually moving bar,
see: www.permaculture.actieforum.com
while at permies.com its this neat narrow strip that only changes every other minute. (see below)

Now i thought i might just copie the code that paul wheaton got for his site (if he's okay with that). But i wonder, when someone clicks the link then, do the guys at amazon get the permies.com ID from that?

thanks

The links amazon provide all have coding that identifies the site owner. So you would be missing the credit.

Amazon has all sorts of links available to the members of their associate probgram. I've looked heavily into what there is. Paul has more than likely modified his own as he does with many things.

Those urls you gave are different

One Dutch and one Russian. You are the Dutch site right?   Gotta be careful on the spelling or some of your potential viewers will be going to RU

oh, whoops. the dutch is mine indeed,

ah so paul tuned it, so i really have to find some one into code
(css bbc or something?).

i have to anyway, the designers of the standard theme i use didnt design it properly, if threads get longer the background loses color and becomes white at the bottom...

and more little things, maybe i better start to learn myself...

thanks a lot,

I think I tweaked the source code so if you type Acres USA or Backwoods Home and a few others, it converts to the amazon code for me.

Well, the one for Acres USA is working.  So if somebody clicks on that and subscribes, I get something like a dollar.

If you take that link and change the number that starts with the letter B to be an ISBN or a an ASIN number for anything on amazon, then the same thing happens.

I got this info from amazon in 1997 or so.  It still works.  Their new stuff is way more complicated.

The "rs12" means me and the "-20" somehow means amazon-USA.

Does this help?

yeah, thanks!
my identification is permacultuurf-20, so i might replace your id in your code with mine and try it out, if youre ok with that.
The amazon team seems to be busy since they dont really respond to my question.

thanks heaps anyway
