Optical Surveying for Earthworks and Water
Advanced Permaculture Certificate Course

Instructor: Tom Ward
Dates: June 3-5 and June 17-19, 2011
Location: Little Applegate, Oregon
Description: Sharpen your Eyes.  This 6 day advanced course offers essential skills for implementing permaculture projects.  Tom Ward teaches the use of surveying tools that are not digital or electric.  Students will become familiar with  swales, terraces, ditch and pond layout, profile cross section drawing, keyline and trail system locating, solar assessment, wiggle water way layout, small cabin orientation and pay layout, staking, note-taking, compass and map reading and the use of surveying applications for permaculture projects. We use scope-like devices and other hand tools such as sight levels, pocket transits, builders levels, A-frames and various vertical measurement rods. The course is held at Wolf Gulch Ranch where Tom has designed and surveyed trails, ponds, swales, keyline terraces and water and irrigation systems over the last 10 years.
The PDC is a prerequisite for getting an advanced certificate for this course, however you may have the certificate held until PDC completion in the future.  The course is open to all who have a working knowledge of permaculture.  Check out student reviews of this course on our website.

Cost: $420 if paid in full by May 15; $500 after; including camping; bring your own food
