What is BLIS K12? unique strain of S. salivarius
The definition of a probiotic is “live microorganisms which…confer a health benefit on the host.” Most of the bacteria we carry with us is in the gut, but the beneficial bacteria that naturally occur in the mouth and throat are actually the “first line” in our body’s immune defense. BLIS K12 is a naturally occurring beneficial bacteria that only lives within the oral cavity and is proven to promote good oral health, support natural immune system defense functions and protect against the proliferation of bacteria that can cause bad breath.
The idea behind the product is that when taken regularly, the BLIS K12 probiotic will support upper respiratory health and the health of the throat and the oral cavity itself.
Before finding out about BLIS K12, I was looking at ways to make probiotic products like toothpaste or mouthwash. Or course these would probably need to be keep in the refrigerator unless used within a few days or weeks.
Although not the same strain as S. salivarius, would just using the liquid off ferments as a mouthwash be helpful?
