They are beautiful.

Can you tell us more about them?  What part of the world did they come from?  Can you give us an idea of their size?

There is something familiar about them, but I don't know what they are.  It's going to be fun finding out.

Wish I knew anything about them.  We talk about our gardens at work and will bring fresh veggies or herbs for others to try. These were brought in one day.  The weird part is that no one knows (or admits to) what they are or that they brought them in. Beyond any suspicions, I would still like to know what they are.

It would really help if I knew how large the seeds were.  Are they 1/32nd of an inch, or two inches big?  Or bigger?  Or smaller?

When I used google images to search for something similar, I stumbled on this visual seed database.  Very interesting.

The picture also reminds me of buckwheat but the pod is different.

The seeds do look a lot like yucca

But I can't be certain.

Were they at the top of tall stalks coming out of a rosette of narrow, long tough leaves?

Edit...Rereading I see that they weren't still on the plant when gathered?  I doubt they would have been just laying on the ground if it was yucca...ours always hung on to the seed pods themselves even after spitting the seeds.

Sorry, I phrased that badly and jumped to a conclusion.....

Those are yucca seed pods. Yucca propagates by two methods, seeds and shoots coming up from the roots. Yucca are very hard to get rid of so be wise about where you plant them.
