Rolling River Nursery from California, USA

I give this nursery 8.5 out of 10 acorns.

I found Rolling River Nursery when searching for a pear tree on standard rootstock for my daughter's first birthday. I really wanted a tree that would live a long, healthy life--preferably 100 years so that the tree would live at least as long as my daughter. I found it extremely hard to find pears on standard rootstock, especially ones that do well in our area. Thankfully, I found Rolling River Nursery, and their pears are on OHxF97 rootstock, and they have the Orcas pear that I was looking for! I was also amazed at how many marvelous, hard-to-find permaculture plants were offered. I love when nurseries offer a wide selection, because it really saves on shipping costs to only order from one nursery to get the plants one wants, rather than 4 or 5 different nurseries! Their online catalog also shows how many of each plant they have available, which is super helpful.

I did encounter some difficulty getting emails answered or contacting people over the phone, however. Due to the transition of ownership, they were rather short-staffed, so it took some emailing and calling of people at Planting Justice to get my questions asked. But, I ended up with a very informative phone call from the person in charge of the nursery, and all my questions were answered and I'm lead to understand that they will continue to do better at answering phone calls and emails.

I ordered from them an Orcas Plum, Orcas Pear, and a Sochi tea shrub. All three came in great condition and were very well packaged and there was no damage to the trees. They also came with a California Red snail, which is now my son's pet snail. I planted the trees in October, 2017 and all three look healthy. I'm excited to see how they do as spring approaches!

i give thm 9 out of 10 acorns. plants were huge, well packaged and came in a timely manner. considering they sent plants from Ca to Me, thats amazing ! shipping is a little heavy but its completely accross the country!

I’d give them a 10 if their Mulberry trees were on their own roots.
I love this nursery. The quality, prices, interesting selection, and excellent packaging have made them my favorite.

Just in case anyone is wondering.... the original owners didn't retire... they're still caretaking the property with all the mother trees. They have a new business selling propagation material for all their varieties.
