I need a well pump. My well is shallow-ish at 45'. I've seen a few reasonably priced convertible pumps such as this one http://www.csnstores.com/Wayne-Water-Systems-CWS100-WAY1144.html It says factory wired for 120V so it is a matter of flipping the switch to 240V? I'll be in a country that uses 220V 50hz. Will it work? I'm stumped. I emailed Wayne pumps customer service yesterday but haven't heard from them.

Nevermind. I got a response from the company. It won't work.

There are things called 'step-up' and 'step-down' transformers.  I don't know much about them.

Thanks! I'll check it out. I've used those devices before but with small appliances. I'll have to see if it's still cost effective to get them here or just get the pumps overseas...
