Just read Farm Show's article, "Net Turns Fan Into Dust Collector" (Vol 34, no 4, 2010). "Air Nets" fit around fans (18", 24" round and 20" across square) to catch dust while working. You point the fan away from the workspace, and wash the net when it turns off color or gets full of whatever you are working around, like drywall dust. It is not a replacement for wearing a mask though. Followup at www.leevalley.com
