okay folks, I've set up the washingtonpermaculture@gmail.com (And, it'll be forwarding to my private email so I'm sure to be checking it). My next task is to use a library computer (without signing into gmail) to see if google groups are viewable by all and emailable to all. If so, we could use it as a listserve. If not, if people have to have gmail in order to join, then I'll set up a listserve at riseup.net. That way we can send out to all, And people can sign themselves up without needing our time.

For the website, I see:
Main indestructible homepage (non-wiki)
Page for 'who's who' by region (cool if it could be 'clickable map'!)
Calendar page
Contact page (including sign yourself up for listserve info, go to permies forum, etc)
Into the wiki

News: to join google groups then you need to have a gmail account. I don't like that. So I've set up a listserve for us at riseup.net.

We can use this as a chatty thing Or, like seattle permies do, just as an update about what's happening on the website. Both have pros and cons.

This is a 'subcategory' of the greater site, but I'd love comments about this or any other website suggestions.

Hi Kelda,

That's great you set those up so quickly!
What is the link to the riseup list , so I can add my name?

I sent Paul a link to where riseup put a zipped copy of the SPG website and I downloaded it to my computer, too, as a backup.
I'm still investigating if we need to get any other program components to run the wiki on Pauls server. I will also get in touch with Amy's friend, Jon, who helped us set up pmwiki the last time. And see if he is aware if any possible newer versions that can provide us with a calendar function.
Hope you are enjoying this great weather!

Should I set up the latest wiki?  Or, is the wiki software you were using in that tar file?

the link to the listserve is here: https://lists.riseup.net/www/info/washingtonpermaculture
(I had to wait to give it out while it was getting approval).

Also, I made up this thing that it says about us:
This list is a networking tool for washington state permaculturists, linking together sites, teachers, students, designs, and local issues having to do with our garden craft.

It could be a lot longer and more fun, but this will do for now. Any suggestions?

Paul,
I'm not sure what all is in the tar file. The only thing I'm sure of is the content is there.

Tar files are the linux version of windows zip files. The email I got from riseup help recommended get a freeware untar  program offf the web.

Tar files are a bit different from zip.  They are a big gob of files wrapped in one, but they are not compressed like zip files.

I'm fiddling with it.  I have a new computer and I'm trying to move to my new computer and tinker with this simultaneously.  I hope to have the old stuff running at my host by the end of the day.

Have either of you heard from Christie?  She has the list of everybody, right?
