Neighbor has a young pear that has fire blight.  The tree there before had fire blight.  Her other pears are fine.  My answer would be not to plant a pear there and be done with it.

But that may not be the only answer.

Does anyone else have a different answer to this problem?

Natto might help  - I am experimenting with that now. It is a Japanese styled fermented food containing Bacillus subtilis. Some strains of that bacteria are antagonistic to fire blight, it is not clear if the strains in natto foods are.  Even the stuff that has been tested and shown to work is not a spray-once miracle cure, but it does reduce damage significantly.
