I am a 54 years-young woman looking to get out and away and begin a life of simplicity and meaning. Would love to eventually have a communal homestead with a number of folks living and sharing life together. But, I’m getting ahead of myself here! To start, I’d just like to find a like-minded partner to share work , resources, good and hard times, ideas, and successes. It truly is not relevant to me whether you are male or female as my relationship choices do not rely on what shape your genitals are. 😉
I  have some pretty good animal husbandry, hunting, and cooking skills. I can build simple things like chicken houses and I learn very quickly.
I think that some cheap land in West Texas where there are no building regulations would be a great place to build an earthbag structure, throw some raised beds and a water tank down, and get started. What do you think? Certainly not a plan for the faint of heart or sound of mind- but that’s no good reason not to go for it! ❤️

I'm looking to start a small homestead for my adult family in Arkansas next yr as soon as I get my house sold. I would be open to having like minded company there.

Would you consider moving north?  I have a new job in the Driftless area of Wisconsin for which I will be moving to Richland County, WI this January.  I'm a 55-year-old, previously mostly city girl but love gardening, hoping for a more self-sustaining lifestyle (but keeping the day job for now).

Not sure where you are at the moment or even how you are. AFter two years, I would hope that you have found a place to land. Wishing you well.

Hello, Doesn’t look like you have posted in awhile so you may not be checking this anymore. I’ve been thinking west Texas and other areas in the southwest is a great place to start also. Earth bag , cob and or earthship is my dream to build . I’m currently building a toy hauler and retrofitting it for off grid journey . I’m in Maine currently”grew up here” I’m ready for the simple life and hard work in building a community or joining one . I’m going to head out and see where the land takes me.
Hope to hear from you soon
Matt-
