Several years ago I had a favorite stinging nettle patch.  After a year or so of interacting with the plants I developed an "immunity" and the sting no longer affected me.  I have not recently tested to see if that stayed with me or if I'd need to build it up again.  I have heard that there are people who sting themselves on purpose to get some health benefit from the plant.  However I do not recall off the top of my head what health benefit they were going for.

So I've had a really crazy week and I'm just now finding out about all this as I get back in town.  And it looks like now I'm 9 minutes late on earlybird.  Is there any way I can still get in on early bird with maybe a backdoor adjustment?

Shoot, so sorry Jeff - it's all automatic and set up ahead of time.

Ok, I understand.  Was going to back at the 10 dollar level so let me know if anything changes.  Just a heads up, I clicked on the notify button last week on the kickstarter preview page but never got any notifications.  Just seeing the updates through the daily-ish now.

We are still looking for the land but assume 5-10 acres in SE Idaho.

Everything else I’m up for suggestions.  Types of cows, what to feed them and how, etc, etc

Welcome!!  I’m enjoying reading the cattle thread.

Want to have three or four cows to make sure we get at least two steers or calves per year.  One to put in our freezer and one to sell.  Poke holes in this idea so I know what I don’t know. Also about how much does each cow cost to feed for the year assuming I have to bring in most of the feed.

Skandi Rogers No matter how many times I scrub the teapot there is some film that forms on the sides and in the cracks at the bottom.  Then everytime I boil water I end up with that film coming off and a bunch of gross floaties in the water.  It is so annoying and I gave up and just started boiling water in a smaller pot.  Anyway it could be a design flaw with the teapot, maybe I can find another that will not have the same results.  I love how fast the teapot boils water, but cannot use the water coming out of mine.

With recent developments regarding research finding teflon and other nasties in the water, I've been thinking more and more about other cooking pans and pots.  I have a few cast iron beauties, but what other alternatives have you all enjoyed and would recommend?  Especially for boiling water, our stainless steel teapot gets nasty and is hard to clean the inside.

Last Thanksgiving I used pickle juice to brine our turkey and it was amazing.  Loved it.  I have been brining turkeys for the last 6 years since I first heard about it.  Makes the meat so moist and yummy but pickle juice added a nice flavor that can't be duplicated any other way.  It was wonderful.
