Biography
I have been a blue-collar worker my entire life, self-employed since 2012 and I love it.  I get extremely bored not being productive.  I believe that stewardship of the earth is a divine calling and was the original vocation of man and that all of our "progress" is actually destroying us.  I have worked in just about every trade imaginable, and I came to permaculture because I hurt my back and was laid up for a few days and during that time God led me to some documentaries about the brokenness of our food system.  I am still finding out how deep the rabbit hole really goes.

I noticed that the Red Cabin didn’t have a sign, so I solved that problem. I know it’s kinda obvious but it’s a lot to take in when you first arrive to Wheaton Labs. With all the bikes around, you might think it was the red bike shed.

I have been asked if it was the shower shack more than once.
Cleaned up the dishes from pizza night.  The big trays wouldn’t fit in the dishwasher. There are some dishes in the dishwasher drying also, if you look at where the door is cracked, you can see them.

I used an oat flour recipe pictured below. I would give this dough a 3 star rating, definitely edible but not amazing. Not bad for my first attempt at gluten free crust though.

Pizza night during BB20 2023.  We ate good.

Got a couple BB’s in the process

This worked surprisingly well. I cooked farro, one of my favorite grains.  I was suprised that it didn’t really take any additional time.

I used the “easy bake coffin” at Wheaton Labs for an insulated box and added the towels. It was unplugged of course so not adding any additional heat.
I did describe the plant as a Willow Tree, what more needs to be described?

I would really consider rewording this BB.  I’m a pretty literal person so I understood it to mean wet with urine, rather than pre-moistened with water, which is what you were going for.

Nowhere does it say “urine must be diluted, or soil pre moistened” which it probably should say for the sake of clarity, if that’s the actual intent.  It would seem from the previously approved submissions that this is a not in-fact an issue though.

I’m trying to support this ecosystem but these technacalities make it really disheartening sometimes. I’m not the type of person that intentionally breaks or bends the rules.  It would be great to get a PM when there is a problem with a submission rather than a cold rejection.  That is what I would consider “being nice” as Permies is supposed to be governed by.

I’ve looked through many other submissions and it looks like the real problem is that I used a container, because all of the direct stream photos are approved even though there is no way to tell if the soil is moist or not, nor any comment stating such. I’ll concede that I missed the bottom two lines of the instructions, but I still find this ridiculous.

Here I was thinking that this was about peeing outside, saving water, and fertilizing plants at the same time, but apparently it’s about following poorly worded directions perfectly.

I’ll gladly re-do it but I am also trying to save others some future pain.
Took this crooked and double topped pine tree down to allow room for more valuable trees to grow in its place.  It will be used for firewood because it isn’t good for much else.

This was on the lab property at Wheaton Labs.

Installed about 45 sqft of paneling in the solarium at Wheaton Labs today. What I did on the big part of the wall was 30sf and beside the door was 15sf.

They milled this beautiful pine on site.

I installed it this way because I was continuing the work of others, and working with the material that I had which was definitely getting scarce towards the end.
Used 2 pans of dishwater about 2 gallons each to water some plants on a hugleculture.

The boot’s said that they could use a decent step for the library at Wheaton labs. So I made this 14” tall with two steps with 7” rise each.  It’s 16” wide by 21” deep.
