This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in Electricity.

In this Badge Bit, you will convert a vehicle to run off of electricity.  We're talking a street legal 4+ wheeled vehicle.  Have an old Geo Metro laying around?  Let's make it electric!

Here's a video of a cool project:

Minimum requirements to get this BB
  - street legal
  - capable of 60mph
  - 40 mile range
  - conversion kits are ok
  - must be a conversion from gasoline/petrol to electric drive
  - plug-in hybrid would be fine as long as it can go 40 miles on all electric

Points
  - also earns 35 points of Metal Working (Iron)
  - also earns 30 points of Tool Care (Wood/Iron)

To show you've completed this Badge Bit, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than twenty minutes):
  - the vehicle you're starting with
  - the engine compartment before you begin work
  - the engine removed
  - the battery pack, motor and other major components
  - the battery pack installed
  - the motor and drive installed
  - finished views of everything
  - video (sped up) of driving the car for 40 miles and hitting 60 mph at least once during the trip

Paddy spent all of his days in the O'Furniture back yard with this tiny ad:
montana community seeking 20 people who are gardeners or want to be gardeners
