This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the wood badge in Metal Working.

For this BB, you will be making a firearm!  Not assembling, not clicking stuff together, you'll be making a firearm.

Here is what one might look like:

This BB has a point range from 30 to 90 points.
 - minimum points for a fully functional, safe, and beautiful work
 - maximum points for highly professional and awesome work you'd find from a craftsman
 - work between beautiful and awesome will be awarded something in between

Minimum requirements for this BB:
 - everything is hand made from raw steel or other metals and raw wood
 - blackpowder, centerfire or rimfire are all allowed
 - pistol, shotgun, rifle, musket, blunderbuss, etc are all allowed

To document your completion of the BB, provide the photos or video (<2 min) of the following:
 - The supplies you're starting with
 - Partway through the build
 - The finished firearm
 - Video of the firearm working

‽A long time customer passed away not too long ago and his kids gifted me with a John Sheetz rifle. This would be a serious undertaking but a fun one. This rifle is similar but the one I was gifted is a period correct percussion cap conversion and has a few more German Silver flourishes. The tiger maple is beautiful and can't remember seeing any other tiger maple stocks used by other gunsmiths. Though I'm sure there were. I was fascinated with the Foxfire books coverage of firearms making. Though comfortable with my blacksmithing skills I guess I'll stick with modern firearms. I hope someone takes up the chalenge.
