This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in Animal Care.

For this BB, you will control mosquitoes with permaculture!

For this BB, the minimum requirements are:
     - Do NOT use BT, soap, sprays, citronella, propane, electricity
     - Pre-requisite BBs
         - create dragonfly habitat
         - create frog habitat
         - create toad habitat
     - Do all of the following:
         - attract two different mosquito eating birds/bats
                 - describe the species and how you’re attracting them
                 - probably building housing
         - Mitigate breeding areas - do two of:
             - mosquito breeding trap
             - introduce fish to a year round water tank or pond to control mosquito larvae
             - reduction of standing water where it is not wanted - do at least one
                 - gutter that does not drain properly
                 - buckets or other objects outside that can hold water for five days or more
                 - puddles in a road
         - build six more toad shelters

To document your completion, provide proof of the following as pics or video (less than two minutes):
     - state which all of the above mosquito control measures you will implement
     - before, during, and after construction/implementation of each of the above mosquito control measures you select to implement
     - Prove your efforts mitigated mosquitoes.  Here are two possible ways to prove it:
         - Have a “control” and document results during mosquito season
         - Compare results of one year without and one year with controls, same time of year

Get me the mayor's office! I need to tell him about this tiny ad:
