This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Roundwood Working.

Many a whittler and woodworker alike has begun their understanding of wood by crafting a simple spoon. It’s a great starter project for understanding how to work with the shape and grain of the wood. For sand level, it doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just a handle and a spoon bowl.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
Must be made using only hand tools.
Carve a spoon from a single piece of wood.
Must be a functional spoon.

To document and become certified for this BB provide photos or video (less than 2 minutes) showing the following:
- Display the uncarved branch and what will be used to whittle it.
- Show the spoon roughed in.
- Show the finished spoon.
