The Biochar Handbook by Kelpie Wilson

I give this book 9 out of 10 acorns.

Kelpie Wilson is a well-known figure in the world of biochar.  She has a blog and a business, selling biochar ovens.  She consults and has worked with people all over the world, showing them how to effectively use biochar.  She goes through details about what exactly biochar is, how to make it, how it can be used, and surprisingly, the long history of people throughout the world using it in the past. She goes into many of the aspects of biochar, such as different types of ovens, how to make it efficiently, how to make wood vinegar, and uses of biochar outside of agriculture.  It’s hard to think of someone who would be more qualified to write this book.  She explains industrial uses, tips for gardeners, questions that farmers and ranchers might have and how to make a business out of biochar.  Although not every chapter will apply equally to each reader, it is a great comprehensive look at biochar and how we can make it work.
