This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEM curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Traditional Skills.

When it's time to cook a bit of meat, it's annoying to have to wait for lightning to start a fire for you.  Let's gain experience with using a bow drill to start a fire!

Here's how to do it:

Minimum requirements:
  - Make a fire using a bow drill
       - You don't need to make the bow drill, that's a different BB
 - This bb can only use materials that existed 200 years ago

Provide proof of the following as video (<2 min):
  - Your bow drill
  - Making an ember with the bow drill
  - Igniting tinder

I love this. I have tried again and again to make friction fire. Every time I try a bow drill, the cord breaks before I get anywhere. Every time I try a hand drill I get awful blisters. Maybe some day…
