I never before worked in the garden when my ducks were outside till yesterday. They didn't appear to pay much attention to the weeds I was picking or the new dirt, which surprised me. They nibbled at my jeans the entire time I was outside. Is this typical? In all of the films I've watched of individuals working in the garden with their ducks, I've never seen ducks do it. Their bites are hurting for the first time ever, which also surprised me.

Welcome to Permies!

That's interesting about them nipping at your heels. I can't answer your question, but I added your post to the Ducks and Geese forum so maybe some knowledgeable permies will notice and answer.

I kind of want to try gardening with ducks too... but I hear they're really noisy and now you tell me they bite?! Yikes. I hope we can find a solution.

I had ducks for about two years and I found them to be nearly useless. They ate every earthworm on the property and turned everything into mud. On the positive side, they taste great.
