I have never given my dogs or goats any medicine, much less
chicken or goats. So I dont think that you have to give them any.
I do think that you
should leave
enough herbs in there pasture so that they can self-medicate.
When it comes to animals, you really want to focus on their food/feed/pasture and also their
shelter. Once you start medicating your animals on a regular and then you starting drinking the
milk or eating the eggs/meat from that animal, one is only a short step away from factory farmed meat. prevention is what you are aiming for. And really I would cull animals in your herd that start getting sick because it is too hot/cold/humid/etc. That just means that they are not a god fit to that area. I fell similarly about
trees. imagine someone in Miami adding an AC to their "greenhouse" to give a hazelnut shrub enough chill hours. Instead I think they should plant another tree. But if someone wants to keep a specific cultivar/species for say sentimental reason, and it is more of a pet/hobby, I think that is also fine too.
Iterations are fine, we don't have to be perfect
