Hi there.  We are in process of purchasing 119 acres in Southern Kentucky.  Our plan is to build a self sufficient homestead over the next x years.  We currently live in Indiana but travel to Georgia to work at a foster boys ranch 2 weeks of every 4.  Obviously that doesn't leave us much time to develop the homestead and manage it.  My wife and I are new to homesteading and around 60 years old.  We are thinking we might work another 3-5 years and then want to be pretty much full time in KY.  Wondering if there is an experienced couple/family that would want to help us build the homestead in exchange for living there.  Not sure about details of this arrangement.  Obviously could be fraught with difficulties.  Anyway we thought we would start by seeing if this kind of thing generates any interest.  Thanks.

My guess is we would have to wait till 2022 to really get started with things.

Well we now own the 120 acres of land in South Central Kentucky.  We would like to invite other people interested in a self sufficient lifestyle (homesteading, off grid, etc) to think about doing it with us.  We could sell you some acreage, or we could set up some kind of leasing deal or work to own deal.  We know we will need others to develop our permaculture property with us.

Hit us back if this sparks any thoughts in you.

I'm needing something different. I just went through a dark night of the soul or something. Now life seems mundane. I'm feeling being called to do something but stuck in inaction. I'm an empath, highly sensitive healer. I'd like to learn how to help myself and others.

Hi Richard, I'm hoping to find an acre or two near like-minded folks.  I'd like to buy, or lease with option to buy, but would also consider a work-trade for land.   Would love to talk soon.  I'll send you my contact info through a purple moosage.

Hi Richard, how is your project going?
I am curious to learn more.
If it seems like a good fit I might be interested in working out one of the options you mentioned. It definitely sparks some thoughts     what zone is your place in?

Maybe we can work out something that would be mutually beneficial.

Please get in touch when you have time.

Thanks, Josie

Hi Richard,
I am very interested in your project.  I am preparing to retire at 61 yo.  I don't care about owning the land, but I would like to have a small plot /building site to build a small sustainable home and keep some animals and a garden.  If you're still looking to form a community, I'd be interested.  Please send me an email at daveboyce99@yahoo.com.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi all.  We are slowly moving forward.  Since we don't live in KY full time it is a hard to move ahead full steam.  Not sure how exactly things would be structured but seems like we could only have a self or nearly self sufficient homestead with the help of others in community.  I have attached a picture of the property. Thanks.

Hello Richard, my name is Chris. I live in Kentucky and I'm very interested in speaking with you all, concerning your dreams of a homestead. Which has also been my dream for many years. We are a couple, her names Kris. both 50, I am a general contractor and have been for 31 years. With a well rounded knowledge of Kentucky and what's important in an off grid setting. I'm interested in talking with you to find out what your wishes are for a home stead. How you want it to work for you?
I believe that we would be able to come to some sort of agreement. I'm very open to ideas. Please feel to contact me anytime. May want to text first. Robocalls, shoo!  859-338-4973. Thank you for your consideration..

Hi Richard,

My partner (40) and I (29) are also considering a move to Kentucky soon with hopes to start a native/edible plant nursery business. We've been traveling through the central states camping out of my car and that area just seemed so perfect for us. We also both concluded while setting up our camps that building our own off-grid house and structures seemed so much more fulfilling, affordable, sustainable and fun than renting/owning a regular house and have our sights set on something like that. As we're not at the point currently to buy land, an arrangement like this seems like it could be perfect. We're both gardeners and primarily planty people, I went to school for Conservation Biology/Environmental Science and he Horticulture, but we have a bit of know-how with construction & irrigation and love learning all the different permaculture techniques through this forum & youtube, etc. It sure would be fun to help out & do more hands-on work and possibly carve a little corner out for ourselves & our dog & kitty & a little plant nursery. Please feel free to message me if you'd like, we may be back in the area in the next week or 2 as well for a possible meet-up.

Take care,
Norma

My husband and I are looking to move back to this area (he grew up in Warren county and we lived there for a few years as newlyweds) for a self sufficient homestead for ourselves and our children, possibly an uncle and few cousins in the area interested in helping as well (plus my lovely retired MIL to provide childcare so we can work on our land more). Do you have access to electric and water? Would you be interested in selling or rent to own or similar maybe 20-30 acres? You can email me lisapfulkerson@gmail.com

Hello Richard and Wife.

My name is Lacey.
I am 36 years old

I'm a professional diesel mechanic

Currently in college for a bachelors in Marine resource Management biology once completed I have a full scholarship for a masters in sustainability and I plan to expand my career with a PhD in environmental science.

I have a background in farming crops and livestock and fixing and maintaining farming equipment and I can build anything in a homestead fashion out of the lumber off your land. If there is a nearby mill the logs can be processed at minimum cost or I can do it by hand but that will take a lot longer. Having more hands would definitely be beneficial at least one or two extra sets.

I have a strong passion for living a homestead life and have while growing up and then again for a few years until the hubby and kids wanted to move back to the city, I was out voted. I'm newly single and a new empty nester now.

I can build you your homestead and can maintain it solely if necessary while you live there when your out working with your fosters. I would ask in return for ownership of at least 5 acres of land for my own use. And for community share of Crops and livestock untill I am able to get my own up and running and you are able to handle the land on your own when you move in. Of course I'm right nextdoor to help you and your wife when and if you need me of course. I'd start with building yours first to get it ready for your arrival. I currently have a Motor Coach to get me by in the meantime it also has a generator.

I come fully stocked with tools as well. I truly believe in self-sustaining homesteading.
Breading your animals and preserving seed is critical on a homestead as well as proper food preservation it is many forms.  Their is the financial aspect of building a homestead as well if you want it to get off the ground right. The initial startup with seeds and animals. Labor is what the land ownership pays for. For me is it all about freedom.

The one thing that could be a bit of an issue is water as I do not see and rivers on or by your property just a pond meaning underground aquifers would need to be accessed with digging wells. Do you have mineral and water right to this property?

Hello Richard, this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while. If there is still an opportunity for someone to come help let me know. I am looking to build a 20x20 building for me to house in. I’m a professional carpenter so I can help with building and I’m also a decently hard worker. So I am definitely willing and interested in learning new ways of self sustainability. I have tools and transportation. Ready when you are! My email is bradleyday94@icloud.com
