When you click to go to next page (at bottom of a page of posts in any forum) the next page starts with 7 or 8 foruum posts from the previous page.

My eperience makes me think thats not very intuitive - so curious if there was a reason for making it do that, or as I suspect it is simply a feature (probably you can adjust it to show none, 5 or 25 entries from preceeding page).

Daft old curious bugger in Bulgaria signing off!!

Thanks for your observation Nick.
I'm not seeing this myself, and am wondering whether it is browser/platform specific. What do you use (eg PC windows chrome)? Can you give a specific forum that you've seen it in, so we can try and duplicate the issue?

Anyone else seeing the same feature?

Thanks again!

I wonder if it is a feature or if it just that while browsing through page 1, 7 or 8 posts were made, and therefore when you navigate to page 2, page 1 already has changed, pushing that many entries onto page 2?

I very rarely go to the next page so I just tried this for a couple of pages and I do not see any entries from the previous page in forum.

Like Nancy said I bet it has something to do with your browser.

Not suppose to do that.

Can you share a link where you see this happening?

Yup! I usually browse the ”most recent” tab that can be found under the forums list in mobile. Here are pics from the first page and then the second page of the most recents.

I checked if they were just pushed down because of newer posts, but no. Both screenshots are from the middle of the pages.

I was wondering if it was working in a way that the thread that had a new post in it jumped to the top AND stayed in the place where it was bumped by the earlier newest post..?

For me, it is the main forum page. If I hit the “2” button at the bottom looking for a post that has been slid from page one, I get mostly the same threads as page one. Sorry I can’t link an example, but I am not technologically skilled in such maneuvers.

Only a single data point, but I didn't see any overlap in Firefox on Linux. I tried the link with #recent and the regular 'Forums' link above at the same time and saw the same stuff. Selecting the second page in both tabs brought me to the same second page with the same links on each, but no overlap from the previous page. I've never used mobile.

I tried again today and had the issue everyone else is having. I went four pages deep and they all did it. Now I'm really curious how things didn't go wrong for me before.

We are getting inconsistent results trying to reproduce the error.  We need this before we can present it to the developer.

I  can't get it to happen again on my system.

Is anyone willing to put how you get this error in simple steps.

Ie, windows 11, pc, chrome  go exactly to this address via browser bookmark,  logged in....

Strange, but maybe not strange.

I tried just to make screenshots to help @r ranson but now the pages are switching as required.

So my best guess is that people (incl. myself) reading "slowly" through the list of posts and then while switching the pages it gets updated with new posts from others.

Then we did troubleshooting purposely switching the pages fast, without reading all the topics and it worked because there is no new update available.

- This forum has a huge amount of members hence there will come many posts simultaneously.
- Most Members are from the United States so 'all' are active in a short time frame within a few hrs.
- I tried to get some screenshots at 11 - 11:30 am Taipei Time so the majority of the members are going to sleep or sleeping already and therefore no updates popping up. Now the page works fine.

The reason why I assume its caused as above stated?

If I update my posts in "A long way to our dream in Thailand Part 2" the new post disappears very fast from page 1 and sometimes within an hour it's reaching the last page...
Also the likes received are mainly by followers or people who are just in that moment online where my post is on the first page.

Best suggestion:

Shrink the Forum Pages so that there at least 5 (or more) actual pages fit on, so posts don't disappear so fast and reach more "page 1 readers" who never switch to page 2.

I hope it helps..

Now I have the last 10 threads from page one as the first 10 threads of page two.
I checked it multible times refreshing in the betweens, there were no new threads at the top of page 1 at any time that could have been pushing the last threads to page two.

For the tech people:

Device type

Operating system

I will have to check this EDIT: cleared all data from browser and logged in again, it is still happening.

That should be enough to get started.  I put out a call to the development team.

Since I have the attention span of a slug, feel free to bump this thread in 48 hours if we don't hear anything back.

I have tested this pretty extensively on and off for many months now and I'm 100% confident in saying that is not the issue.

There are quite a few private forum like for when you buy some of the digital market items or for giving away free stuff to daily-ish subscribers.   Some times of day they can get quite active. It's possibly something to do with that.  But the person who fixes stuff like this is busy with higher priority things.  Not sure when they can get to this.
